Torpoint was established in 1993 by equal shareholders Richard Metcalfe, Garry Cox and Robin Gravestock.

Joshua Paterson: Financial Director

An experienced, fully qualified (HND Building) and time served quantity surveyor holding in excess of 15 years' experience Josh is responsible for managing every aspect of Torpoint Ltd’s finances and the office management side of the building projects. 

This includes managing and overseeing cash flow, maintaining positive bank relationships, ensuring that Torpoint meet Inland Revenue and VAT requirements, compiling management accounts and working with the auditors on the production of audited accounts, ensuring that all insurance requirements are in place and managing all company creditors and debtors.

Josh now manages the team of Quantity Surveyors and oversees all of Torpoint Ltd.’s projects from estimating to completion.

Josh has evolved and retained some very strong client relationships since starting with Torpoint in 2006. Navigation Point, Bramham Timber Yard and our new project in Blackburn are all for the same client and more projects are in the pipeline to follow.

Most recent projects include Navigation Point, Castleford which is Torpoint Ltd’s flagship project and is currently valuing in excess of £30m. Blackburn Waterside project will be a £20m development and this project has finally started!

Along with Phil, Josh has grown the company from a comfortable turnover of £6m to in excess of £20m.

Philip Paterson: Contract’s Director

Over 30 years' experience in the construction industry Philip is educated to degree level having completed a BSc in Construction Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, he is also an associate member of the CIOB.

His main responsibilities are the completion of contracts with respect to quality of work and completion of projects within programme and to deadlines. Philip is responsible for the health and safety policy and procedures for all staff and subcontractors that are employed by Torpoint Ltd. 

The majority of Philips construction expertise lies in the housing sector with both public and private sector experience and also he has many years of development and speculative housing completions behind him.

He considers himself a proactive and pragmatic manager with a ”can do attitude”, who likes to get the best from the teams on site by providing them with the support, training and necessary equipment to complete all our projects to our usual high standard. He acts as the link between the management team and the site based staff.

Since taking over the reins back in February 2015, his jobs include 14 luxurious houses in Bramham £3.2m, Skipton Girls School £1.55m, various schools & warehouses throughout Yorkshire.
